XXL Winner - Derek Dunfee took out the coveted Monster Paddle Award - 18th, 2009

San Diego resident Derek Dunfee took the coveted Monster Paddle Award at the XXL Awards on 4/17. Pompermayer was at Mavericks on November 30th 2008 to capture the winning shot, Dunfee used perfect positioning to complete a classic big wave ride.
"I'm so stoked to have won this year especially in the monster paddle category! Derek really charged it and I am so happy that my photo was selected as the winner, beating out of the other 5 photographers that were there that day."
